Carvers’ Program
We are pleased to announce that this year’s festival will showcase up to 40 participants. If you are a stone carver and are interested in taking part, simply fill out the registration form and submit by June 20, 2026.
Whether you are a beginner or a hobbyist, an apprentice or a professional stone carver or sculptor, we welcome you. Sign up and take an active part in this special festival atmosphere and meet fellow artisans from all over.
Accommodations
Hotel Zero1 has offered discounted rates for registered carvers.
The rate would be $208.00 or $223.00 including breakfast per room for two per night.

Schedule:
Friday, July 17th 2026
12pm – Registration and carving begins (meet us at the festival location)
5:30pm – Carving ends for the day
6pm – Social (to be determined)
Tools can be left on site. We will have security to look after them.
Saturday, July 18th 2026
8am – Carving continues (croissants and coffee on site)
12:30 pm – Lunch break (lunch provided)
5:30 pm – Carving ends for the day
6 pm – Social with finger foods provided and a Prize Draw at Restaurant Franklin’s (143 Rue Saint-Paul O, Montréal, QC H2Y 1Z5)
Sunday, July 19th 2026
8am – Carving continues
1pm – Carving ends and auction viewing begins
2pm – Auction starts
The grand finale of this event will be a public auction of the finished pieces. This will be a wonderful occasion to enjoy the works of art created during the festival and perhaps even bring home your very own special piece!
Entrance is free. Auction proceeds are being donated to Les Ateliers de la Pierre du Quebec in support of their Art Therapy programs.
Participants
Beginners, Hobbyists, Apprentices, Stone Carvers and Sculptors.
Task
To carve a limestone sculpture or relief in approximately 18-20 hours. Participants are encouraged to prepare a sketch or model of their design before the festival to help viewers visualize the finished piece. Participants must use only hand tools. No power tools are allowed. You must bring your own tools and protective equipment including safety boots and glasses.

Material
Indiana Limestone blocks measuring 8” x 8” x 12”.
Alberene Soapstone blocks measuring 6” x 6” x 6”. Not a typical soapstone. Very hard!
Participants are welcome to bring their own stone if preferred.
The task must be completed in approximately 18 working hours.
The pieces will be auctioned at the end of the event so it is necessary that each one is completed within the allocated time period.
Please don’t forget to bring your own tools to the festival.
